Review

The Qur’an establishes many principles to help humans return to Allah and to improve themselves. It informs them that they are the best of creation and, simultaneously, that they are forgetful, weak and susceptible to the temptations of desire and whispers of Satan. A question, therefore, arises about the mechanisms, if any, that Allah, out of benevolence, proffers on people to assist them to become God-conscious, assertive and resilient against all that drives them away from God’s love. One such medium is to exhort each other. And remind, for indeed, the reminder benefits the believers (al-Dhariyat 51:55). Thus, it follows that giving reminders is a cornerstone for the betterment of individuals and of society as a whole.
